Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the deaths, public figures shared varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive claims that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and suggested they demonstrated a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an adviser should have stepped in when the decision to comment on the death was made.
